Manufactured by Heat Transfer Products Inc. (HTP), the Munchkin R1 is a residential ultra-efficiency boiler offering up to 95.1 percent AFUE. This Energy Star-certified series has five models ranging in heating capacities from 50,000 to 199,000 BTUs.
Available as a wall- or floor-mounted unit, the R1 has a lightweight design geared toward providing easy installation, as well as zero clearance to combustibles. The R1 also offers four different venting options–vertical, unbalanced, sidewall and concentric–for flexible installation and airflow.
Indirect water heater integration, a durable 316L stainless steel heat exchanger and an outdoor reset that detects temperature changes outside and adjusts the interior temperature accordingly are additional features of this unit.
The Munchkin R1 series is a revised version of the HTP Munchkin boiler series.

There is no mistake (other than making this purchase!) I have ever made while maintaining this boiler annually (as in every year) completely by the manual! But this boiler, in my opinion, has been plagued with problems! There was not any customer support displayed by HTP and no responsibility for using sub-par parts and the assembly of their products. I can't believe that they are still in business with the absolute junk they halfway engineer, then rush out onto the market. I do like the boiler when it's working correctly, but I feel that I cannot leave home without worrying that it will break down while I am gone.

I got this boiler to replace a munchkin boiler that I had two of. This htp is a new boiler that the installer said was a good boiler. I got this replacement boiler Jan.31 2017 so I have used it for about maybe four months. Now it will not run because they say the control board is bad. This is a new boiler they are saying it still under the old boilers warranty because it was a replacement. That is like saying if you buy a new car it comes under the warranty of the car you traded in. I travel a lot and need a reliable one.

These boilers last two years before the heat exchanger warps and fails. Flue temperature will increase over time and boiler will continue to trip out on overheat. I have had two of these boilers. The first started failing at 18 months and it took 6 months and a threatened law suit to get it replaced under the three year warranty. The second had the same issues and the company is now saying there is only a 1 year warranty. Any talk of a class action law suit?? Boilers should be a worry free purchase but HTP's lack of customer support and inferior product make this boiler a nightmare to own. Noble Trade, the company that supplied the boiler does not stock this product now and is not supporting the HTP product line. They won't even contact htp on my behalf for compensation so I am left holding the baby. Buyer beware!!!

"Good boiler, but no repair(wo)men around"

I am having a seriously difficult time finding someone who has worked on HTP boilers before; I've called my voice off. Is there any service/repair manual available to help someone when he/she comes to clean this thing? HTP has nothing, but I am hoping a "Chilton" is around somewhere. Please advise. Thanks. John. PS: I have a Versa Hydro Solar, not a 199m, but the list does not have my model so I picked one at random above.
