"Poor design"

1.0 rating

I would not recommend this stove to anyone and I feel bad for the dealers stuck with them. I suffered through one full season with nothing but problems. The design they use requires you to clean out the heat exchanger holes except after a month or two you'll start to snap the brushes they provide inside the tube. To their credit they sent someone out to upgrade the stove but that only provided short term relief. The design is poor. I bought my stove in 2013. Unless they completely overhauled the design, don't buy it. They ended up replacing the entire stove under warranty but after seeing that it was the same design I sold out back to the dealer for a 15 % restocking fee. All in all I lost $2k and about 30 manhours of "routine" maintenence but was so relieved to get out from under it!

"Don't Buy a HAWKEN"

The furnace will not heat our house and Hawken says that we should add insulation to our house. Unreliable company that doesn't stand up to their guaranty.

"Gx10 outdoor wood-burning stove"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

We paid over $12,000 for this stove last year. First of all we cannot get the stove over 69 degrees unless it is over 30 degrees outside. We started the stove late this fall and a few weeks ago I looked outside and saw steam pouring out the top of the woodstove and the thermostat completely out. After many nesting emails back and forth to Hawken Energy in which they pretty much blamed the problem on everything but their stove-they sent me a new thermostat-I replaced it and it worked for about 3 weeks and today-same problem. This is only the 2nd woodburning season. We called the salesman who told us he was out of business because hawkens did not back up repairs of the many faulty stoves they sold to upstate new Yorkers-their own salesman told me these stoves were "junk". I can't really afford to replace this stove right now so we are dealing with harassing hawken energy to "fix" our outdoor woodburner which is less than 2 years old. I strongly urge anyone to not buy these stoves and I strongly encourage anyone and everyone who bought these stoves and is having problems to get together for a class action lawsuit. I will be contacting the attorney general with this issue at the very least.

"Hawken outdoor furnace delivers excellent heat and economy"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

For three winters now I have relied on the Hawken Energy Outdoor wood burning furnace. Not only have I been pleasantly surprised with the actual heat output, I have been even more pleased with the economical aspects of the furnace. Easily maintained, cheap to operate and very reliable, I have no real need for any other type of furnace. Originally intended to be an emergency/ alternative heating source, I have found the unit so reliable and easily maintained that it is now my central and sole source of heat. I highly recommend anyone give these units a try, and would certainly buy another.
