The Haier D2VAR is a discontinued high efficiency heat pump with an efficiency rating of 13 SEER and 7.8 HSPF. The D2VAR series offered heavy steel construction and a completely enclosed, permanently lubricated fan motor. It had powder paint and an elevated base pan with drainage holes to help resist rust and corrosion. The D2VAR featured Haier high efficiency coils and lanced aluminum fins to enhance heat transfer.
My last a/c unit lasted over 15 years. Purchased brand new house, 6 years later I am having to replace it due to a blown up compressor.
"Haier split heat pump, 13 SEER"
Just wanted to say that no matter what kind of equipment you install or have installed, it's only as good as its installer! I have been doing heating and A/C since 1973 and have put several of these units in and not a problem whatsoever! And by the same token, you can get a lemon in anything you buy. I even installed one in my house and it's been very efficient and trouble-free going on 6 years now! My personal opinion is Haier is as good as any others including Carrier, Trane, Heil, Lennox, etc.
Bought 2 years ago, had to replace capacitors and circuit board and now the compressor. I really am disappointed and will never buy or recommend one in any way ever again. Do yourself a favor and do some research and spend the few extra bucks on something better.
"Piece of Crap"
First year: Leak of gas due to pre-assembled part. Second year: Inverter valve malfunction, had to replace. Third year: Defrost board malfunction. Fourth year: Fan cracked! Yes, the freaking fan cracked due to stress and metal fatigue. Unit is assembled in USA but all parts made in China. Advice: Buy a Carrier or other brand made and assembled in America.
"Defrost Board Goes Bad Every Year"
We have owned this for 6 years and it's about to get it's 4th defrost board. Warranty has covered the boards but not the labor. This will be the first year (past 5 year warranty) that the unit isn't under warranty. I guess, I will see how much this will cost.
