Guardian Manufacturer Overview
Guardian makes residential air conditioners, heat pumps and gas furnaces. Guardian is owned by Johnson Controls Co., based in Wisconsin, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange as JCI and had net sales of approximately $30 billion in 2017.
Corporate History
Evcon Holdings Inc. originally manufactured the Guardian brand of HVAC products, in addition to Coleman, Evcon, AirPro and Red-T. The company later sold its stock to York International Corp. in the 1990s. Today York is part of Johnson Controls Inc.
Guardian opened a 1.5 million square-foot facility in Wichita, Kansas in 2002, where it builds and tests its line of products.
Product Lines
Guardian split-system air conditioner systems are outdoor units available in 13 and 14.5 SEER efficiency and 1.5 to 5 ton capacity models. Heat pumps are offered in 13 SEER and up to 8.3 HSPF efficiency in 1.5 to 5 ton models and 14.5 SEER and up to 9,0 HSPF in 2 to 5 ton models.
Guardian gas furnaces are available in 80% AFUE and 95.5% AFUE models.
Guardian also makes a single package unit which provide 13 SEER efficiency cooling and 80% AFUE efficiency heat.
