The Goodman GSH14 heat pump is a discontinued split system heat pump that is still carried by some HVAC dealers (this model was included in Goodman’s literature as late as 2010, but is not on their current list of residential products). The GSH14 can achieve a SEER as high as 15, and an HSPF rating as high as 8.3. Goodman currently supplies a similar model, the GSZ14 high-efficiency heat pump. The GSH14 uses R-22 refrigerant, which is more commonly known as Freon. According to information from the manufacturer, the unit features a high-efficiency scroll compressor and Goodman’s best quiet-operation design. The GSH14 was designed for easy installation and service access.
If you are planning to install a new heat pump in your house…don't buy a Goodman. This may be a big dealer but there products are crap!!!! Build my house in 2014, 5,500 Sq ft, my downstairs unit works fine, had a few problems but its been working okay now for 10 mths. I may succeed and make it to a year. However, the 3 ton unit upstairs needs repairing every 3 to 4 months. They have replaced transformer, defrost control, and contactor. Works well for a couple of months and breaks again. The original installer refused to come out and service the product because he doesn't make enough money on all the repairs. Oh by the way, I called Goodman and they could care less about my problems with their product. Run away from Goodman and anyone who sells them…don't make my mistake.

We bought this home in 12/2007. The builder uses this brand of AC. Have had problems since about 6 months after we moved in. The outside unit was changed out about 3 years ago. Now after 5 year warranty is expired by 7 months, we have a leak in the A Coil in attic unit. I will never have this name of AC installed. I get sorry, it's out of warranty. Most units last about 15 to 20 years, not this junk. So if a builder is using this name brand, better ask for at least 15 year warranty.

4 1/2 years with the new system and and 2 broken weld joints — one about 1 1/2 years ago and another one the other day. I would think you should get a good 10yrs out of a system before any major repairs. Very disappointed in the Goodman Condenser. Air handler so far has worked like a champ.
A Goodman owner writes on gardenweb.com that, overall, he is pleased with his GSH14 heat pumpbut its filter design was less than ideal. He mentions that the way the filter was installed seemed inadequate, so he reinstalled it in a better fashion. Another Goodman owner also mentions the poor filter design on the website.
A homeowner and several HVAC contractors compare Goodman and Trane heat pumps on hvac-talk.com. Goodman is generally viewed as a relatively inexpensive product, compared to other brands, but several of the experts on this site feel its quality is just as good as other brands. The contractors stress that proper installation is the key to customer satisfaction with any brand of heat pump.
Hvac-talk.com reveals a discussion of 13 versus 14 SEER heat pumps. Goodman is one of the brands mentioned in the conversation. Many of the experts feel that a higher-level SEER heat pump, such as the GSH14, will bring increased savings and efficiency. Others advise against spending the extra money for the higher SEER unit if the homeowner will not be in the home very long or if he or she lives in a cool area.
