Goodman GPH15M Heat Pumps

Goodman GPH15M Heat Pump Overview

Goodman’s GPH15M heat pump is a multi-position packaged heat pump with an efficiency rating of up to 15 SEER and up to 8.0 HSPF. The self-contained unit can be installed on the rooftop or on the ground and is available in two sizes.

The manufacturer highlights the fact that its GPH15M heat pump features a high-efficiency compressor with an internal relief valve. The compressor operates with a high-efficiency coil made of refrigeration-grade copper tubing and aluminum fins. The unit also features an EEM (X-13) blower motor; Goodman reports that it insulated the blower compartment to keep the heat pump’s operation quiet. The unit’s heavy-gauge galvanized-steel cabinet with its gray powder-paint finish was created with corrosion-resistance in mind.

The GPH15M heat pump uses R-410A (better known as Puron) chlorine-free refrigerant.

Last less than 5 years?? Ugh!! Not familiar with AC as we live in an area where average summer temperature is 64 degrees. Have a house in Kentucky and one in Raleigh with the Goodman brand about same age (5 years AC quite working on both). How coincidental is that!! I have learned my lesson, never again will I allow anyone to install a Goodman product. My fault 5 years ago was too busy to read and research and trusted installer to make a good choice. Hah!! That will not happen again!!

"This has Been a Problem Heat Pump"

This has been a problem heat pump since General Air Conditioning in Palm Desert, California put it in. We originally ordered a Maytag and the company baited and switched us to a Goodwin. In the 18 months we have had the "lemon", we have complained regularly about many things. Seems every time they come on a service visit, they want to sell us something. Now the damn thing won't keep the house under 80 Degrees. Could it be the refrigerant? Or as they suggested, it need a new condenser they call a beer can for a major $350 cost. Originally they said that beer can was to help the unit start better. We spent $9,000 on the "lemon" and even after a manufacturer rep came out, it worked only for several months. Their "limited" warranty is lousy. Even with a car you get 3 years or 36,000 miles. We did not get even 36 months without major trouble. It's been 18 months of "hell" for us. Besides all of that we had General Air Conditioning put in a $3,500 down draft swamp cooler and they now have the dampers set, so our office is the hottest room in the 1640 sq ft house. I'll never buy anything from General again.

"Don't buy a goodman."

Purchased unit in december 2008, by may of 2009 I was hospitalized because the unit was filling the ducting with water, 2011 the switch went out and now it is 2012 and the unit just stopped working, the repairman said the blower is bad. Wow what a company wish I would have found this website before I bought a goodman.

Installed last of 2010. Emptied Freon the first part of 2011 due to copper lines chaffing. Paid repairman $50 for Freon because no parts replaced. Goodman said they would pay $100 for Freon if parts were replaced. Do they not realize and empty system is an empty system no matter how it gets out. Monday it died again. House fan motor this time. None on the East coast. Houston, tx suppose to got some Friday. By the time we get it, and get it installed, the heat pump will have been down 11 or 12 days in some 100+ degree days. Avoid this company
