The Goodman DSZC16 is a two-stage heat pump with an efficiency of up to 16 SEER and 9.5 HSPF. The two-stage Copeland UltraTech scroll compressor is protected by high- and low-pressure switches and a bi-flow liquid-line filter drier, and a high-density foam compressor sound blanket helps keep operating noise as low as 72 decibels. The unit uses ComfortAlert diagnostics, which include indicator lights and storage of up to six fault codes, to monitor the system. It is ComfortNet Communication System compatible, allowing the contractor to monitor and review data from the system during maintenance or servicing. The unit is protected by a heavy-gauge galvanized steel louvered cabinet with an appliance-quality baked enamel finish.
We bought the unit October 2015, outdoor unit continuously shuts down. Called new contractor, he told us how we were scammed and everything he had to replace and do to fix it. Another $6000 later and December 2017, huge hole in my ceiling and it still shuts down. Goodman is absolutely no help. Contractors do not want to take on this nightmare. Guess we are $15,000 plus out of luck with this sorry unit, no help and no where to go.

"Freon leak on new unit from the coil"
1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied
I closed on a new house in December 2011. I have had Freon put in my Goodman unit 8 times. The last time was September 2015. Spent $460.00 for labor and Freon. Now I was told It needs a new coil. Wouldn't buy this brand again.

"Top of the Line Heat Pump"
5.0 rating
Very Satisfied
I've had this heat pump for a couple months now. I was convinced by my father, when my old one went, that I should just bite the bullet and invest in a quality one. I never intended to spend quite this amount of money (over $2,000), but it really sold itself. I love that it's quiet and dependable. It was also super easy and inexpensive to install. The repairman typically charged a couple hundred dollars to install one, but he spent significantly less time installing this one (not sure if it was because our house was just an easy install or the heat pump itself, so caveat there) so he only charged us $100 flat. It a great machine and I haven't had any issues with it at all. Overall, the only real issue is the price. Coming in at about $700 more than some of the other, cheaper models (sometimes more than $1,000 more than the really cheap models) it may be cost prohibitive for a lot of folks. But, I have to say I feel good about knowing that it came with a great warranty and is a good machine.

Professional members on the site say that he is better off with the two-stage instead of the single-stage unit, with one member saying the DSZC16's warranty is outstanding. In another post on the same site, a homeowner trying to choose between the DSZC16 and the DSZC18 was advised that proper sizing and installation quality are more important than equipment.
