Goodman CPLT Heat Pump Overview
The CPLT heat pump from Goodman, now discontinued, is a 13 SEER split-system unit that features a high-density sound blanket designed to minimize the compressor’s operating noise. According to the last available data from the manufacturer in 2006, the unit reaches a rating of up to 8.6 HSPF and is available in capacities ranging from 2 to 5 tons. It has a 4-blade fan assembly and a high-efficiency scroll compressor that is fitted with an internal pressure relief valve for easy control. Other features of the CPLT include a time-initiated and temperature-terminated defrost function. For loss of charge protection, the unit features a low pressure switch.
The heat pump’s cabinet has a polyester powder paint finish over G90 galvanized steel. The system can be installed on the ground or mounted on the roof. The basepan elevates the unit above the slab in order to promote water drainage; this elevation also keeps away from the coil debris that may collect inside the heat pump. In addition, the unit has a louvered metal guard system designed to protect the coil from damage and strengthen the unit.
