"Great quality at a reasonable price!!!"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

I bought this furnace because I am remodeling a house and have had it around 4 months. It is extremely quiet, works really fast, and the only negative I can say is it was a tad bit to pricey. I never had to replace or fix it and I will say I will buy this brand again if something happens to this version. I have told a friend about it who is also remodeling a house.

"Great Furnace Replacement"

So this is the first time I’ve ever had to purchase a furnace and I was very nervous. For one thing, I wasn’t sure how much a furnace ought to actually cost. I spent about three days collecting information from the internet, from dealers and repairmen, and from friends who have needed to replace theirs. I finally settled on a Goodman. The reason for this was that I was told that it was a brand that most repairmen were comfortable and familiar with installing. This couldn’t have been more incorrect. I called two different companies and both said that they wouldn’t install a furnace I bought through a 3rd party. The third company I called finally sent someone out and they were unable to install it. Eventually I ended up calling my father-in-law, who had been an oil guy for 20 years, and we installed it together one afternoon. Since then, I can’t have been happier with the performance. My heating bill has gone down and it’s a lot quieter than the old guy. Couldn’t be more satisfied, even though it was tough to get it installed.

"Cheap to buy but expensive to repair"

The unit is 6 years old and seems to need annual repairs of $600 plus. The igniters last 2 years, and the blower motor died. It’s noisy. There’s not much good to say. It came with the new house. The contractor obviously didn’t care about quality.

"Check that Control board before replacement"

Bought this unit in 2008, with matching a coil and Condenser unit. It bore the Coleman Name then. Just yesterday the ac shut down, trouble code was 5 red flashes. Roll Out switch, the unit is calling for cooling. Roll Out is a heating malfunction. Wtf! Checked all 4 roll out switches for continuity all ok. Checked wiring loop of the 4 roll out sensors back to the control board 12 pin plug cot continuity through the whole loop. Before purchasing and installing a new control board I removed the failing one and examined it with a magnifying glass and found a cold solder joint on one of the pins of the 12 pin connector and it was a Roll out sensor pin. Reflowed the solder on all 12 pins and the unit was again 100%. Don’t be too quick to let a repairman sell you a new control board without checking all the connection points for poor soldering from the factory!

I purchased a Goodman gms8 gas furnace in January 2005 and it ran good. Until 2 years later, we had to replace a major part which my husband hired/paid a repairman for but we never got to keep the replaced part to see if it was warrantied (which is another matter I am not happy about). The following year in 2008, another problem and then again this winter, we’ve had a repairman come out twice which he told us we eventually will need a certain part that my husband was able to order online and install himself which saved us a bundle. We are hoping we won’t have further problems. My daughter is looking for a new furnace and I don’t think I will recommend Goodman.
