The GMS8 furnace has an AFUE rating of 80%, which makes it a low-efficiency furnace relative to other new furnaces.
The GMS8 furnace includes features such as a tubular heat exchanger and a corrosion-resistant blower, a durable hot surface mini-igniter, and self-diagnostics on the control board.
House built in 2007, bought in 2010. Provides good heat. Had to replace the Control board 2 years ago due to cold solder joint. Repaired myself and have a backup in case the new one goes bad. This week the flame sensor stopped the gas flow right after ignition due to being dirty. Not bad after 10 years of use. My recommendation to the average homeowner is to have your furnace serviced once a year. Find a highly rated technician and they will find most problems before they happen. Unfortunately our homes require maintenance and homeowners usually fail in the performance. I can’t stress enough, perform predictive and preventive maintenance to save yourself some stress. Have a great day!

Very unhappy with this unit. 3 years old and 3 service calls for the same thing.

Furnace has operated well: even heat; quiet. One rather annoying factor is that the machine was not designed to accept a filter! I don’t understand how this can today. Prospective buyers of a Goodman furnace would do well to contemplate this lack and what it might mean to them in their building.

Scrap metal! 2017 and less than 6 months the control board has gone out. Goodman distributor says not his problem and to call the install people. Now I am finding all these reviews that are showing me my future with this piece of crap and I am out of $$

I have owned this furnace for about a year. The things I love about this furnace are the dual-diameter tubular heat exchanger, the very quiet single-speed, induced-draft blower, and the quiet multi-speed direct-drive circulator blower motor. All this for a very affordable price. What I dislike about the product is what seems to be the lack of efficiency. But the price is what you pay for. I have only had it for about a year so therefore I have not had to have this unit repaired, this does come with a 10 year parts warranty. If one was on a budget and looking for a very simple furnace, I would recommend this product to a family member or a friend.
To benefit from the Goodman warranty, customers will need to register the unit within 60 days of installation at the original owners home. Once this is completed, the following warranty applies.
The heat exchanger is covered for the life of the original home owner
All other functional parts will carry a 10 year limited warranty
If the above warranty does not apply then the product is covered as follows:
All other functional parts will carry a 10 year limited warranty
The heat exchanger will carry a 10 year limited warranty
The remaining functional parts carry a 5 year warranty
