Goodman GSX13 Central Air Conditioners

Goodman GSX13 Air Conditioner Overview

Goodman markets the GSX13 air conditioner as an efficient and reliable product. This three-phase 13 SEER split-system series has models ranging in capacity from 1.5 to 5 tons and producing anywhere from 18,000 to 60,000 BTU/H.

The Smartcoil technology used to enhance the GSX13’s heat transfer capability incorporates refrigeration grade, rifled, 5 mm copper tubing and aluminum fins that reportedly provide a larger-than-average surface area. The coil is protected by a steel louvered guard. The GSX13 has sound-reducing features such as a quiet condenser fan system and a louvered sound control top to provide reduced operating noise.

Goodman produces the GSX13 with a louvered cabinet made with heavy-gauge galvanized steel. The cabinet has a side panel that allows access to the controls and provides enough space for accessories. The liquid and suction line service valves are made of brass, and the GSX13 features R-410A chlorine-free refrigerant.

"19 Years"

5.0 rating
Very Satisfied

My wife and I purchased our home almost 19 years ago. Last year, our AC was starting to show wear. Our heating and AC company kept us going until this summer. Hugo said it is time to replace. We asked, "What was our original unit?" He said a Goodman, then that is what we wanted to replace the old unit. Gilbert, Arizona, with dry heat, and Goodman has served us well. We are planning on another 19 years….

I am an installer from 1992. I bought a 4 ton Carrier complete and it just can't cool 1250 square feet. There's compressor noise, the coil comes with piston 82. I called Carrier to let them know what's going on, they sent an 80 piston, same problem. Now I have to pay for the customer's light bill. This crap runs all day until someone turns it off. R410 and Carrier is like a gunman robbing an old lady.

"Crummy parts"

We've had this unit for 3 years and in this time I've had to call out our installer on two occasions to repair the unit. They paid for the parts but I had to cover the labor. The installer told me that he is constantly replacing the capacitors in this unit. I was told that some of these parts fail within two weeks of installation. These capacitors are made in China and live up up to the fine quality of products manufacturers receive from other countries.

Purchased a newly built 1073 square foot home. Closed on April 1. Both the AC and furnace are matched Goodman units. R410A 13 SEER A/C really carries the freight on hot days. Runs quietly too. Long term will determine if the unit is reliable, but I think with the Copeland scroll compressor it should do just fine. I like the fact that they are built in the USA in non-union factories in right to work states.

"Great unit"

Turned it on for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by how quietly it ran. It cooled the house down in no time. It's a very nice unit for the money. I would purchase again.
