Goodman GPC15 Central Air Conditioners

Goodman GPC15 Air Conditioner Overview

The Goodman GPC15 is a discontinued packaged air conditioning unit with an efficiency of up to 15 SEER. It was available in multi-position and horizontal models. The unit featured a copper tube/aluminum fin coil and a permanently lubricated condenser fan motor. A three-bladed fan, a foam condenser sound blanket and a louvered sound-control top helped reduce noise levels. The cabinet was constructed of heavy-gauge galvanized steel and had a corrosion-resistant powder-paint finish. The GPC15 used R-410A refrigerant.

Goodman GPC15 Air Conditioner Reviews

"Unit lasted 1 year"

I bought this unit on 8/10/15. On 8/25/16 the unit stopped cooling and cost $1379.54 to repair. It was a poorly welded pipe. The manufacturer's fault, but not covered. Never again!

"A great air conditioner for the price"

I've had my unit for 6 years without any issues. I was going to spend a little more, but my house (formerly my grandparents') had no duct work at all and the labor was going to run pretty high. I got in on the government energy program that will rebate up to $1500; had to get a 15 SEER or higher unit. It's a lot for my 1100 square foot home. The factory setting was for a much larger house and it was ramped pretty high when it was tested. It was tweaked to the lowest setting and still a little on the loud side. It forces so much air, people think it is raining outside. Still, it cools and heats quickly, then shuts off. My power bills have been low compared to other people I know with higher-end systems. I'd try Goodman if you're limited on funds.

"Never again"

By far the worst A/C unit I have ever owned. 2 major repairs were done on the unit, it's just over 4 years old. I spent over $1400 in labor and parts which were not covered by the warranty. How is this piece of junk company still in business? And how is it getting any positive reviews at all?

"Compressor Noise"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

I live in an interior Townhouse in Southeast Florida. The owners on each side of me had their 4 Ton Carrier packaged units replaced with Amana/Goodman 4 Ton units in the Fall/Winter 2012. I could barely hear the Carrier units compressors hum. The Amana/Goodman compressors not only humm loudly but also make a hammering noise. It is so bad that the only way I can sleep is with my ceiling fan on high, a continuous play Classical music cd playing and 33 hours earplugs in to override the compressor noise. The owner of the installation company and the Goodnan southeast technical representative met me at my house. We went up on the roof and checked one unit. The compressor chamber was "Oil Canning" as the Rep. called it, that was the source of the noise. I asked why the Carriers did not "Oil Can" he said the pans they were mounted on where a heavier gauge than the Goodman pans. Both he and Goodman customer service say the units are what they are and they will not reiforce the pans, which he admitted should quiet the oil canning. If anyone else is having this problem I would like to know.

"Blower Failure. Unit Less Than 2 Years Old"

Somewhat Unsatisfied

Was very disappointed that the blower unit had to be replaced in less than 2 years of use. Part is covered but repair cost is not. I would certainly think I was not expecting too much have the blower last longer.
