Goodman manufactures and provides service for heating and cooling products including air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, coils as well as commercial offerings.
Goodman’s founder, Harold V. Goldman, began his HVAC career in 1954 as an air conditioner contractor in Houston, Texas. After establishing himself as a successful contractor, he started Goodman Manufacturing Company L.P. in 1975. Originally, the company focused its manufacturing efforts on plastic blade registers and air ducts, but quickly expanded its product offerings to include some HVAC equipment. In 1982 Goodman expanded again and bought a failing HVAC company’s machinery. From there, Goodman Manufacturing Company L.P. began making heat pumps and air conditioners. 1997 marked another important milestone when Goodman bought Amana.
Fortune 100 company Daikin Industries bought Goodmanin 2012 and invested in its future success by building a state-of-the-art technological campus near Houston that houses all of Goodman’s operations today. Goodman continues to operate as an independent company.
Goodman Product Lines
Goodman has an extensive line of home heating and cooling products. Here’s a deeper dive into each of them:
Goodman Air Conditioners
Goodman has five air conditioning units (GSX13, GSX14, GSX16, GSXC16, GSXC18) available for sale with SEER (seasonal energy efficiency rating) ratings ranging from 14 to 19. Top features among each of them include louvered coil guards, which protect the coils from flying lawn debris and hail, and filter driers, which absorbs and filters contaminants and moisture. Each Goodman air conditioner has a higher than a four-star rating from current customers.
Goodman classifies its gas furnaces by efficiency. Their 90+% AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency) furnaces signify that 90+ cents of every energy dollar goes towards heating your home, meaning very few energy dollars are wasted. Meanwhile, the 80+% AFUE means 80 cents of every dollar spent goes towards heating your home.
The top energy-efficient features of each furnace include the tubular heat exchanger with wrinkle bend technology and PSC blower. Made from aluminized-steel, the tubular heat exchanger ensures a high degree of durability and transfers heat efficiently. The multi-speed PSC blower uses an electric motor to provide a steady airflow while reducing energy use and noise during operation.

Goodman strives to produce products that deliver excellent energy efficiency. To accomplish this, they employ the ComfortBridge Technology in their top end air conditioners and furnaces. This technology monitors the air conditioner’s performance and sends diagnostics to ensure maximum operation. All of their models equipped with this feature earn a SEER rating of at least 16, illustrating a high-level of energy efficiency.
Goodman products earning the ENERGY-STAR certification include the GSXC18 and the GSXC16 air conditioners and the GSZC18 and the GSZC16 heat pumps.
Goodman backs all of its air conditioners, heat pumps, and furnaces with a 10-year limited warranty. For furnaces, Goodman will replace the heat exchanger if it ever fails regardless of how long you have the unit. Existing customers can check their warranty status on the company’s website.
