Corporate History
The GoldStar brand was established in 1958 with the production of radios. In 1962 Goldstar began to export to the United States. In 1968, Goldstar developed its first room air conditioner. In 1978, it was the first Korean company to report $100 million in U.S. exports. In 1982, the company established a branch, GoldStar America Inc., in the United States. It changed its name to LG Electronics in 1995.
Product Lines
Goldstar/LG Electronics makes high- and low-efficiency room air conditioners, including window-mount, wall-mount and ductless mini-split systems, as well as portable air conditioners. The company says its air conditioners can be used to cool a single room or the whole house. Some options come with multiple speeds and varying air direction.
Warranty
All Goldstar room air conditioners come with a 1-year warranty on parts and labor with in-home servicing. Units installed prior to 2011 may carry an extended 5-year warranty on the compressor.
