GeoStar is a brand of geothermal heat pumps and related equipment. The GeoStar brand is owned by WaterFurnace Renewable Energy, Inc., which is a subsidiary of NIBE. Headquartered in Sweden, NIBE had sales of approximately $2 billion in 2017.
The GeoStar brand was launched by WaterFurnace in 2010. WaterFurnace International, Inc., was formed by Jim Shields in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1983. In 1992 WFI Industries Ltd. acquired WaterFurnace International, Inc. The company continued to expand its facilities and geothermal products, and in 2008 WaterFurnace Industries, Inc., changed its name to WaterFurnace Renewable Energy Inc.
In 2014 WaterFurnace was acquired by NIBE, a leading European heat pump manufacturer. WaterFurnace serves as the headquarters for NIBE’s energy business in North America, though it continues to operate as an independent company.
GeoStar geothermal heat pumps are available in four series: the Sycamore, Aston, Magnolia Plus, and Cypress. The Sycamore is a variable-stage system, while the Aston, Magnolia Plus and Cyprus offer 3-stage heat and 2-stage cooling. The Aston Series comes in Indoor and Outdoor Split systems, as well as Single and Dual Hydronic systems. These heat pumps are all Energy Star rated.
GeoStar offers parts and labor warranties ranging from 1 to 10 years, depending on the equipment.
