The Frigidaire FT4BF is a two-stage heat pump with an efficiency of 16 SEER and 9 HSPF. Select models of the FT4BF meet Energy Star requirements. The two-stage Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor is protected by a control module which monitors the compressor and can shut the system down to prevent damage, while a compressor sound blanket minimizes noise. Other features include high- and low-pressure switches, a liquid line filter dryer, and a three minute restart time delay to increase compressor life. The galvanized steel cabinet is coated with a corrosion-resistant polyester urethane finish and features a removable top grille assembly for ease of service. The FT4BF used R-410A refrigerant.
I moved into my newly built home in April 2016. I had a Frigidaire heat pump installed and right from the start there were problems. The initial problem was a bad compressor and it took over a year to get that corrected. Frigidaire was absolutely useless, they didn't even want to speak with me on the phone and pushed everything back onto the installer and made it his problem and not theirs. And now two months ago as the temperatures dropped in the unit was switched over from air- conditioning to heating, a valve got stuck which took another three weeks to get solved. Two components failed on a new unit not even three years old renderings it useless to heat my home. I am more than disappointed in the product, absolutely infuriated by the horrible customer service and feel that the proper remedy for this particular case should be a completely new unit. Obviously, the assembly Quality Control failed because the heat pump units are made to last for many many years and not be rendered useless With single component failures is so frequently.

"Frigidaire 16 Sear FT4BF Heat Pump"
Replaced Heat Pump system in November 2011. Everything working just fine. No problems so far after 7 years!
"Saved small solutions"
Even with reading the poor reviews from Carrier, Rheem, America Standard, and Lennox, we chose our contractor first. Small Solutions sold us the Frigidaire product and sized up our home. It was originally too large for the house and never dehumidified correctly. Our new unit had a few problems after 7 years, the repairs were handled quickly with only a service call fee. We will definitely purchase again.
Unit installed 3-08, had to have outside unit replaced inside coil replaced and 7 other service calls for problems. Unit has never worked right from day one and no satisfaction from Nordyne. The extra electricity cost incurred plus over $2000.00 dollars in repairs. Frigidaire is not the way to go.
PAUL R MYERS
Bought heat pump air handler system in June 2008. Had to have it serviced by another installer in October 2008. Heat pump failed spring 2009 and was replaced. Problem with unit again fall 2009. Reversing valve replaced 2010 (was not the problem). Unit hasn't worked since March and now they are saying needs new compressor. Warranty only covers parts, no labor. This product and the accompanying warranty are terrible. Do NOT buy Frigidaire.
Other FT4BF Reviews
A consumer on hvac-talk.com stated that his FT4BF made a noise when running on low speed, but was advised by a professional that this is common with scroll compressors running on low. A consumer on another thread on hvac-talk.com complained of a thermostat problem, but that was due to installer error and not a problem with the unit.
