The Empyre Elite is a discontinued wood gasification boiler with up to 89% efficiency. The Empyre Elite was a wood/electric hybrid available in two models, the 100 and 200, with a heat output of up to 225,000 BTU/hr and a water capacity of up to 112 gallons. The unit featured smoke-free combustion and was EPA White Tag qualified. An extra large loading door made loading the unit easy, and an inward-swinging exhaust curtain kept combustion gases from escaping when the door was opened. The unit's refractory fire brick lining and insulated exterior provided optimal heat retention and efficiency.
Boiler heats good and does not use much wood, however mine developed a leak in the first heating season. And after fighting with pro fab I was able to get a replacement. Which it also developed a leak but they had had so many problems with these furnaces they dropped the line and went out of business. ..so much for the 10 year Warranty so I have been patching mine as leakes occur about 4 to 6 per season. What a pain in the ass.
Empire Elite 200. From reading previous posts, I think I've been lucky. Mine lasted 7 years. Just developed a major water leak. I just purchased Central Boiler 750hd. At least it happened before the cold.
"Empire cr 200 wood boiler leaking"
I have had the boiler for three years, had to replaced the blower last winter, In December had to add water a couple times. Inspected the fire box and found 2 areas in the back corners that were rotted thru ,from the firebox in. Very disappointed because the unit only ran for 9 Months! Now have to disassemble and have a welder look at. After reading other posts it looks bad.

"Piece of Junk!!"
This will be our third winter with this boiler and we are going to have to shut it down. Our interior of the unit was made with stainless steel. Do not buy a stainless steel one!!!! They do not expand and contract well causing them to crack and leak.We have had ours replaced after first year, second one has cracked in 9 places, had to be taken apart and welded….more $$$. Only into the cold part of fall this year, used it for 3 weeks and cracked again. We are in debt for this thing and it is junk! It also plugs up all the time, like I said, Junk, junk, junk.

"This stove is junk. After 2 years the firebox had water coming out. Company went out of business. No warranty."
$10.000 dollars. What do I do about the warranty? This is a real problem. I am sure I am not the only one out there. This company should really do something about this. The government shouldn't allow things like this to happen to the customer. They should step in and do something about companies closing their doors and avoiding warranties that are not even two years old. I would really like a response on this. It's not fair that this company should be allowed to do this.
In an older post on hearth.com, a homeowner asked if anyone had ever heard of the Empyre Elite. Most replies were from people who'd never heard of it, but a couple of responses were positive, saying that it is a good unit. There is another post on the same site from a homeowner who developed a leak in his unit due to corrosion after two years.
The warranty for the Empyre Elite Series wood furnace is comprised of the following:
10-year limited warranty on the firebox and water jacket, pro-rated after the 2nd year
2-year parts warranty
1-year labor warranty
