EcoSmart was founded in 2008. The company was purchased in 2013 by Eemax, a water heater company founded in 1988 and purchased in 2008 by The Riverside Company, a private equity firm. In 2015 Rheem acquired Eemax from The Riverside Company.

Product Lines
EcoSmart’s line tankless water heaters includes two point-of-use models – POU 3.5 and POU 6 – and six electric models ranging from the ECO 8, designed for a small single-bathroom apartment in a warm climate, to the ECO 36, designed to handle multiple applications simultaneously in a large single-family home.
The company also produces four models of the ECO MINI, which plugs into a standard 110 volt outlet and taps into the water line. The ECO MINI is designed for point-of-use or as a booster heater to remote locations.
Warranty
EcoSmart’s point-of-use water heaters are covered by a 1-year warranty on exchangers, electronics and elements. Residential heaters (ECO 8 – ECO 36) have a Limited Lifetime warranty on exchangers, electronics and elements. The ECO MINI has a 5-year leak warranty and a 2-year parts warranty.
To be eligible, heater must be installed by licensed plumber/electrician within 30 days of purchase, unless otherwise approved. Warranty registration must be filled out completely and post marked within 30 days of purchase, unless otherwise approved.
