The Colman Echelon is an energy efficient heat pump with an efficiency rating ranging from 16 to 18 SEER and up to 10.0 HSPF. The Echelon has a "warm to touch" feature which helps prevent cold start-up drafts, and the unit's unique fan guard design ensures quiet operation. The environmentally-friendly refrigerant R-410A is used on all models. The Echelon carries the Energy Star logo, and the HC8B has been named an Energy Star Most Efficient 2015 product.
In five years, we have had more than a dozen warranty service calls! The Coleman Echelon series units have poor quality and poor maintenance. I would never buy another.

Very Unsatisfied
Bought top of the line 18 seer Coleman heatpump. I am very unsatisfied. The units paint is peeling off runs constantly. Called contractor today and now the units out of refrigerant. From what I read coils are leaking. I paid 12000$ for this and my ruud unit I had ran with no service calls for 10 years should have put same brand in not this Coleman Echelon …

"Quality of my Coleman heat pump"

First of all, let me start off by saying that I live in the Chicagoland/Northwest Indiana area. This area has very harsh winters, and with very harsh winters, you need a very reliable heat pump. For years, I was trying to get a heat pump that didn't always break down, and I was on the brink of giving up until about three years ago, when I bought my Coleman Echelon hc8b. I can easily say that this was one of the best purchases I've ever made; this heat pump is not only extremely reliable, but it makes very little noise, and it actually has a relatively nice appearance. It's a modern looking, metallic, and all around beautiful piece of machinery. There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this heat pump, and I have not had to repair or replace it once. If you are buying a new heat pump, and you need one that is reliable, makes little noise, and is attractive, I strongly encourage you to buy the Coleman Echelon hc8b.

I have owned this heat pump about 6 months now and I have to say that it has been a very good purchase. I got it last summer because the old Coleman heat pump stopped working and we needed a new one right away. Some things that I like about this Coleman heat pump is the price is pretty good and it seems to be working flawlessly. Some things that I dont like about it is that it is loud and gives off an odor. I have never had to repair it or replace it yet, and I hope that I won't have to in the near future. I think that I would buy the same brand again and I would for sure recommend it to a friend. It is a very good heat pump so I definatly give it a good review and I will continue to buy Coleman products in the future.

I purchased a 15 seer 5 ton Coleman Echelon heat pump. There is every bell and whistle on this equipment and it all works very well. I highly recommend that you have these units installed by a professional! These units must be programmed to operate correctly, and they are programmed after the installer surveys the heating/cooling area. The Coleman replaced the old Carrier unit I had due to a space limitation. For the money I highly recommend Coleman (Same as York). I got the 15 seer because that is the top top point on a graph for savings. My neighbors have a Goodman and the compressor outside is so loud. This Coleman is nice and quiet. I am using 40% less power now compared to last year. Don't get Carrier wrong either, that unit was 24 years old!
When asked by a consumer to choose between a Coleman LX series or the Coleman Echelon, most who commented on hvac-talk.com chose the Echelon. Comments on gardenweb.com describe the similarities between the York Affinity and the Echelon, calling them internally identical.
Echelon Warranty
The Coleman Echelon comes with a standard 10-year warranty on parts and the compressor. The unit must be registered online within 90 days of installation, otherwise the parts warranty reverts to a 5-year limited parts warranty. Other warranty plans can be purchased separately.
