Coleman’s LX series of gas furnaces is made up of several models of single- and two-stage models available with AFUE ratings ranging from 80 to 97 percent. These furnaces are designed with tubular aluminized steel heat exchangers. Coleman claims this series will reduce home energy costs at a reasonable price.
Single-stage models reportedly are quiet and are equipped with a high efficiency air circulating fan motor. The 80-percent AFUE furnaces also are available with LoNox-compliant models.
Two-stage LX furnaces are designed to be very quiet, and some of the higher AFUE models are Energy Star-qualified. They come with an optional high-efficiency, variable-speed ECM fan motor that runs for longer than typical time periods, creating more uniform temperatures throughout the home than a single-speed motor. Longer fan operation also is said to improve air quality, due to the longer periods of air filtration, and since there are few starts and stops it produces minimal noise. In addition, these models include EcoTrak technology that allows installers to program operating cycles to best accommodate specific climate zones.
