The Coleman TCJD is a single stage air conditioner with an efficiency rating of 13 SEER. It is available in one- and three-phase models with capacities ranging from 1.5 to 5 tons. The unit features MicroChannel coil technology, which increases efficiency by allowing for a superior heat exchange surface. A slotted inlet coil guard protects the coil, while a permanently lubricated fan motor reduces maintenance costs. Galvanized steel chasis components, a coated steel wire fan guard and a powder paint finish help protect the unit from corrosion.
Have had this ac unit for 4 years, yet only need it for about three months each year, as I live in the Pacific northwest. It was installed by a third party, thus I was not permitted to choose the make or model of the unit that was installed, which I now realize must be bottom quality. Despite relatively little use, the condensate pump has already broken and required replacement, plus the txv (thermal expansion valve) has become dysfunctional, at a cost of at least $1,200 to switch out. I doubt I could sell the entire unit for the amount it's required in repair costs, alone. Utter junk.

"Defective from Day One"

Do not buy Coleman, York, etc. family of products. I have had nothing but problems with their furnaces and central air units from day one. The furnaces tend to have defective boards, and the central air units have "micro channel" units which leak early and often. My two units have been leaking since they were less than two years old. This company is a class action waiting to happen.

The condenser coil lasted 4 years. Now the Freon ran out. The part is covered but it's costing me $560 for labor and Freon, not to mention the $250 it cost me for diagnose and to charge it up because it was so hot. Called customer service. They won't even meet me halfway with repair costs. Do not buy this garbage. Do not buy this garbage. There are way more reliable brands out there, this appears to be the bottom of the barrel.

Would not recommend this unit or anything from coleman. Nothing but problems from start. Did not work properly during hot days. Quoted from coleman. Product of the environment. 420.00 dollar to have a kick start added to get compressor to work. Warranty manager "Lee" rude and no return phone calls from company. Known problem but blamed the hot weather in New York as the issue. Manager said that kick start kits are included on some models that are used in areas of hot weather. I bought an air conditioner for hot weather not cold. Kick start kits should be in all units and not just some. Company tried blaming distributor rather than accepting the blame for the engineering flaw. If they don't work in the heat don't sell them up north!!!!!!!!!!
