Established in 1900, Coleman initially sold lanterns and camp stoves. The company entered the HVAC market in 1958 when it began designing units for mobile homes. Evcon Industries later acquired Coleman’s Heating and Air Conditioning division. However, in 1996, Evcon was acquired by Unitary Products Group (UPG) of York, a Johnson Controls Company. Since 1999, the UPG of York markets the HVAC products solely under the Coleman name.
Air conditioners overview
An air conditioner removes hot and humid air from your home and supplies cold air in return. The cooling is possible due to three major components: a compressor, a condenser, and an evaporator. A refrigerant flows through these components and cools down the warm air. The cold air then flows inside the rooms through a blower/fan.
