Centurion is a discontinued brand of furnace owned by York International Corp. York sells residential and light commercial furnaces, heat pumps and central air conditioners. York’s parent company, Johnson Controls, Inc. received approximately $30 billion in sales in 2017.
York was founded in 1874 in York, Pennsylvania. Johnson Controls acquired York in 2005. Today York is a part of Johnson Controls’ Building Efficiency segment, which has nearly 600 facilities worldwide.
The Centurion gas furnace was actually the York Furnace with a private label. It typically cost less than the York brand. Centurion was a furnace produced for the licensed tradesman and is not available on the open market. York products are distributed in the US and Canada by a network of independent distributors and company-owned branches.
Centurion furnaces were backed by a 20-year heat exchanger warranty and a 5-year limited warranty on all other parts. YORKCare comfort plans provided complete protection against unexpected repair bills and could provide parts and labor coverage for up to 10 years.
