The Burnham Alpine Boiler is a gas fired, condensing stainless steel boiler. The Alpine is Energy Star rated, with an efficiency rating of 95 AFUE. The Alpine features a stainless steel heat exchanger and smart controls, which allow settings to be adjusted with the push of a button. The easy to remove control panel allows for easy servicing, and the gas, water, and electrical connections are all made from the left side of the boiler. The Alpine comes in seven models, ranging in size from 80,000 to 500,000 BTU's, and can be converted from natural gas to LP gas with the turn of a screw.
Lasted just long enough for the warranty to expire. The CPU was the first thing to go. Cost over $1,100 just for parts. A simple circuit board and 4" LCD screen. Local supplier said it was a known problem and they developed a new CPU (Sage 2.2). Burnham would even give me a discount even though I was only 2 months out of warranty. Unit has never worked correctly since. It dang near explodes upon ignition. I've spent another $1,000 on technicians trying to trouble shoot it. Had all the adjustments calibrated, etc…. The only reason I'm on this web site is to read the reviews for a new boiler.
I bought an Alpine boiler in 2011. It's been practically trouble-free since installation. The low water cutoff had to be disconnected because it would trip when the system had plenty of water, so it was disconnected. I'm told there will be a flood if there is a low water problem so we'll know. Replacing the low water cutoff didn't solve the problem. Aside from that, the unit has been reliable and very efficient.

I have had an Alpine boiler for 3 winters. This past winter was a concern due to the fact the Alpine is about 1/2 the output of the old boiler. The contractor said he sized it from a heat loss and most boilers he installs are about half the size of the old one. I wondered how a boiler half of the heat output can heat my home. To my belief it heated well at about half the fuel cost. This past winter was much colder and still did a great job.
"Keeps you warm with one switch"
I have owned the Burnham Alpine boiler for a little over a year now. This boiler is incredibly efficient and has my house heated within 15 minutes. As of right now there isn't anything I have yet to find to dislike about this boiler. It is a slim design and fits nicely into an out of the way tight corner. I find that the daily cleaning maintenance is next to zero unless your are a neat freak and just like things to look clean. Also, all that is required from the manufacturer is just a quick yearly service which doesn't cost much at all and doesn't take very long for a service tech to do. Overall, I can honestly say that this is the best boiler I've ever purchased and I believe I will not see any problems with this specific brand and know that it will continue to heat my home in the many surely cold winters to come.
"Modern and Efficient Home Boiler"
I bought a house with a 20 year old boiler system and knew it had to go. There were some "contractor specials" on boiler's that looked like this 20 year old one I had. For $1,500 more I ran into the Burnham Alpine series boiler. This boiler is high efficiency and has actually saved me money on what I expected to pay in fuel costs this winter. It even has an LCD screen to help you monitor usage!
Online reviews of the Alpine are generally positive. Reviewers on doityourself.com commented on the reduced heating bill and quiet operation since installing an Alpine. Members on several sites, including brownstoner.com, remark that the Alpine is a good, efficient unit, but also note the difficulty of installation.
Product registration is required within 90 days of installation for maximum warranty coverage. The Alpine boiler is covered by a 5-year parts and labor warranty used in a residential application. The plan covers all Burnham-provided parts and the associated labor costs.
