The Burnham Alpine Boiler is a gas fired, condensing stainless steel boiler. The Alpine is Energy Star rated, with an efficiency rating of 95 AFUE. The Alpine features a stainless steel heat exchanger and smart controls, which allow settings to be adjusted with the push of a button. The easy to remove control panel allows for easy servicing, and the gas, water, and electrical connections are all made from the left side of the boiler. The Alpine comes in seven models, ranging in size from 80,000 to 500,000 BTU's, and can be converted from natural gas to LP gas with the turn of a screw.
This Alpine gas boiler has only been used for 6 months of the year (May- Oct.) since installed in July 2009. This was mostly for domestic hot water. This winter is the first time it was used as I spent prior winters in fl and heated the house with electric. Of course the 5 yr. Warranty is up. Of course it failed during the 38 below cold snap here in the "Ice Box of the Nation". The inducer failed and you can't obtain it without buying a complete wiring assembly. Total cost not including labor, tax & shipping of $650. This furnace replaced a 44 year old American Standard oil boiler system which required little repairs.

We have 3 of these boilers installed on our church and we had nary a problem with them until this week. The one boiler needs a new enducer fan the 2nd needs a new control board.and the 3rd is now making noise, as it is trying to carry the load of the other two. Our installer who put them in 2012 is asking for $7,200. just to fix them. I can buy a new one for $6,200. What a finicky product….and of course the company is saying it is out of warranty. Boilers are not supposed to require infinite hand holding! If the church could afford it I would change them out with a much more reliable product.
Have had boiler for only 3 years and the igniter no longer works. Trying to order new part has proven to be a nightmare with the part being on back order for over a week. I do not recommend buying this brand of boiler!
"Alpine 150 – Satisfied"
Have had this boiler going on 3 years now and even though it was a rocky start, once everything was set properly, this boiler has been running like a charm. Absolutely no issues. You need to have a qualified plumber who has worked on high efficiency boilers because these things are very temperamental. One situation, the exhaust pipe wasn't situated just right, error code. Really? But like I said, once it was all adjusted, no issues.

"Nothing but problems"
Find another product. I've had this boiler for three years and have paid upwards of $500 yearly in repairs after the expiration of the one-year warranty. Be careful — I chose it on the advice of one of the best plumbers/HVAC firms in my area. They made money on the installation and have been profiting ever since.
Online reviews of the Alpine are generally positive. Reviewers on doityourself.com commented on the reduced heating bill and quiet operation since installing an Alpine. Members on several sites, including brownstoner.com, remark that the Alpine is a good, efficient unit, but also note the difficulty of installation.
Product registration is required within 90 days of installation for maximum warranty coverage. The Alpine boiler is covered by a 5-year parts and labor warranty used in a residential application. The plan covers all Burnham-provided parts and the associated labor costs.
