Please if you are considering Buderus boilers, stop. Nothing but service problems for 2 1/2 years, then it completely bursts, ruining in excess of 50k of flooring and carpet. I beg you to consider another brand.

"Aluminum boilers will fail"

Installed in November 2009. All new pumps, controls, super store, etc., and copper finned baseboard. Once programmed, the unit ran well. Service is expensive, and difficult to find qualified techs for them. Heat exchanger started to leak in February 2015, warranty 'policy" is to take pictures, water sample, then buy the parts and repair the boiler, then wait to see if Buderus will cover it. I was not willing to spend $3000 plus on the chance they may honor the warranty. Went ahead and installed a stainless steel heat exchanger wall hung to replace it. The failure was complete on the Buderus , corrosion at every seam, tube and vessel leaks, external and internal. Bottom line is an aluminum heat exchanger will fail. The company routinely rejects warranty claims based on water quality. I have yet to see a residential boiler with water chemistry monitoring and treatment. This boiler even when properly installed is doomed to fail. Ran great, very efficient. But savings negated by having to replace it every 6 or 7 years.

Very expensive and poorly built, completely unreliable. Failed twice for a poor heat exchanger in the first year. Expensive to maintain. Shuts down about twice per month. We will throw it out and get something good. Never buy Buderus.

"We need to replace this unit after so many repairs …"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

We installed this unit in 2009 on our home (new construction), and it only worked for 2 years. Since then it has been parts and repairs, we are now considering giving up on our $5,000 investment and moving on. Please don't buy this brand or this boiler. The repair people no longer want to waste time. This unit has a lot of engineering problems and needs to be taken off the shelf. Consumers are getting ripped off ,

After successfully installing and servicing the GB142 boiler for nearly 15 years and going out to countless units with failures, it is evident the majority of contractors installing these boilers do not read the manual and do not have the education in boiler water quality. The Buderus boilers have a 5 year parts and labor warranty. If you were charged for the repair in the first 5 years, your contractor does not know the product as well as they claim. Use their website and locate a qualified ABC (Accredited Bosch Contractor) to service your equipment. 1st The boiler needs water that is NOT treated by a water softener 2nd The pH of well water should be neutral (7.0) however the pH in a closed loop heating system should be alkaline (7.5 – 8.5). 3rd A digital combustion analyzer that is properly maintained every 6 months and a digital manometer are necessary to adjust the combustion. 4th Every single GB142 that is maintained by another company has damaged condensate traps and the lower level of the boiler was never cleaned. This is explained very well in the manual. 5th THE BOILER MUST BE SERVICED ANNUALLY!!! We hear so many people say it is gas so it does not need to be cleaned. Read the manual! Any equipment that has fire in it should be serviced regularly including your gas stove and gas dryer.
