"Don't purchase this unit"
1St review I have ever written. Had this Buderus gb142 boiler installed in 2013. Nothing but problems. You need to have a health club near by to take showers because this thing will break down several times each year. Been through 2 service providers still have problems.
"Nothing but trouble"
Had this boiler installed in 2009. Now in 2017, have had just about everything about it replaced, most recently the entire heat exchanger. What's worse – it took the repair guys 10 days to replace the heat exchanger because they received 2 bad ones from Buderus. The first one had an internal leak, and the second was damaged. Then, one week later, the controller board went out. I'm done with it – I'm replacing the whole thing with something else.
Corroded heat exchanger. Go online and read about all the problems with these units.
Had a Buderus gb142/30 installed in my home in 2010 – ran on propane – did all regular annual maintenance – had issues with boiler shutdowns after 3 years – dealer I bought it from said there were dirty power issues and propane pressure issues from our local suppliers causing the problems – and of course the big easy – blame the installer for some perceived lack of proper install – after 5 years the gas valve started having problems – lots of technician time trying to fix but couldn't seem to figure it out – boiler limped along though running on some sort of low cycle where the fan never ramped up too high because when it did the flame in the boiler would get snuffed out – after 7 years the boiler failed to run altogether – tech said all electrics needed replacement (ie. Mother board, fan, gas valve to mention a few) – cost around $3000 – tech recommended boiler replacement – boy was I shocked! – and pissed – 7 years with my Buderus boiler and off to the landfill! – my cast iron Weil Mclean propane boiler that the Buderus replaced ran for 25 years without a single day of no heat – the Buderus had multiple failures and probably 10-15 nights with no heat – I live in Yellowknife in the nwt (Canada) and it gets -40 here – this boiler was unreliable and ultimately a huge disappointment – not to mention the 10G's it cost me to put in a new one but I'm glad to be rid of this product – the company wont talk to homeowners and the technicians wont waste their time trying to talk to the unhelpful company reps for tech advice – buying a boiler for your home is a really difficult exercise – after buying the Buderus and listening to the dealer sing its praises – I would now only trust the opinion of a known and respected independent installer – I have purchased a north American made condensing boiler with a stainless steel heat exchanger – goodbye techy Eurocrap
I built a new home and had a new Buderus Logamax Plus gb142-45 installed in my home 2 1/2 years ago. The unit began leaking water on my basement floor. I had a technician over and he opened it up and to my shock and horror showed me how the entire unit was full of water deposits and parts throughout are full of corrosion. He confirmed that it was installed correctly and said his company stopped carrying this brand because they were seeing so many quality issues with the units in homes. He showed me where he thinks the unit has defective parts. Now I have to decide to spend thousands nursing it along or spend many, many more thousands ripping it out and replacing it. What a joke! I was sold a new "top of the line" boiler and it turns out it is a horrible dog!!! I am trying to get the company to fix this mess but I am not holding my breath. After seeing all the posts here I would strongly recommend that anyone thinking of installing this brand reconsider and evaluate other options. This is such a huge disappointment!
