"Don't Purchase a Bryant Heat Pump"

1.0 rating
Very Unsatisfied

I purchased a Bryant Heat pump November 2010 and in 1 1/2 years the compressor has gone out. It was under warranty but I had to pay $350 for labor. It has been almost 3 weeks and now the ac technician says the motor in my fan is going bad and will have to be replaced. I wrote a lettter to Bryant on June 14, 2012 and have not gotten a response so as soon as I can find a phone number I will be calling the corporate office this is not acceptable.

"Great Unit, Would Buy Another"

I am a bit confused after reading all the reviews posted here. I have a "hybrid" system in my house. Variable speed gas furnace with a 2 stage Bryant heat pump. I have never owned a heat pump before this. Over the last 5 years the heat pump has done a majority of the work (even down into the teens). House is 2,500+ sq ft and I am heating/cooling with a 3.0 ton system. This is the 3rd "comfort" system I have purchased in my 50 years of life. I have owned a Trane and Lennox system the other two times and what I found out is that it is more important of who you deal with as opposed to what the brand is. Most of the time people go with the lowest bidder and then wonder why they have problems. It is wise to pay a little more and then you get what you want and a nice job. I would buy another Bryant unit (or Carrier as Bryant is a sister brand of Carrier). Make sure you check out the contractor who is putting it in. The cheapest piece of equipment put in correctly will outlast the best put in poorly.

"Can anyone please tell me why…"

3.0 rating

Can anyone please tell me why the furnace auxilary heat comes on when it seems warm enough for the heat pump to be taking care of it? Today it was on at 33 degrees, & I think in prior years when even warmer. I thought they heat pumps took care of things to down around 25 degrees. We have the "Evolution" system, which is supposed to be near the top.

"Home Owner"

The Bryant heat pump 286ANA024-B and air handler was sold and installed by Babb in Wilmington, Ohio. The trap was installed to close to the drain output, on the air handler, when the air handler came on the water was sucked out of the trap and would get the main pib wet in the air handler. The main pib is located directly under the moisture drip pan. Babb sent there super technician out whose name is Jerry (would not give last name). His diagnostics was electric problem. The pib would be soaked with water. The main pib was replaced 3 times before trap was lowered. Still does not function correctly. Electric bill went from $175 to$362.
