The Bryant Evolution Plus 90i furnace is a two-stage, 4-way multipoise model with a variable speed blower motor. This furnace is Energy Star rated with an AFUE of up to 96.6% and features home comfort controls for easy operation. The Evolution Plus 90i operates on low stage heating up to 90% of the time for efficiency, and the secondary heat exchanger extends heat transfer. The design of the Bryant Evolution Plus 90i Furnace is CSA certified.
Spent a lot of money to get my furnace replaced and chose this unit based on a recommendation from the installer. Have had nothing but trouble. Routinely shuts down after failure to light, requiring another service call. After only 3 years, had to replace the heat exchanger. Are you kidding me? No cost to me but totally unexpected and unacceptable. Seems to need service continually in order to run properly. Would never purchase another Bryant product.

I started having issues with this furnace within weeks, and it never was repaired correctly. The unit is 7 years old, and now I am told it is shot.

Bought house in 2016, furnace had been installed in 2004. Was rental; not maintained and fan got gunked up, threw clunky vibrations. Other maintenance issue was clogged water drain line. Both fixed and furnace runs great. Everyone who came to address main issues fawned over our furnace (“boy, that’s a really great furnace, it’s held up pretty dang well!” Say these mn furnace guys). May be elderly, but in great shape– so no replacement on our horizon. It can get noisy, unsure if that’s the furnace or our ductwork — possibly furnace is undersized at 60 kBTU for our house (~1350sf) and northern clime. We are actually kinda shocked this 13-year-old furnace is chugging along so dang well. They say incredulity is the highest form of praise!

Installed in 2005. Started intermittent problem in 2011. Supposed to have a 10 year warranty but ****** ******* said it was only 5 years since I didn’t get them to service it yearly (which was apparently mandatory, I find this out when I call them in 2011). Problem is code 14 “ignition lockout” which occurs after three failed attempts to ignite the gas burner and provide heat. Between 2011 and 2016 the furnace was almost totally taken apart, cleaned, inspected, and tested. Had the gas valve replaced but same code 14 problem. Told it can’t be fixed until I have a hard fault, complete failure by a wannabe service tech from ** ******** in Ottawa. The latest contractor spent over 6 hours gathering data from tests and bouncing it off technical support without any success yet. It looks like I will have to replace the furnace to get satisfaction since nobody can find anything wrong yet. The latest contractor says all readings are within normal operating ranges and he’s frustrated with having failed to find the problem despite technical support from the manufacturer. Pretty frustrating for me as well. Anyone know a trustworthy supplier and installer that’s reliable in Ottawa ?

"Lawsuit on coil"

Somewhat Unsatisfied
Since I bought the furnace and heat pump from Bryant there is a lawsuit stating that the company knew about the faulty coil that I myself had to replace for an amount of $604.05. At this time the lawsuit is in the U.S. But I presume that it will follow in Canada since I had the same problem and also other clients of Bryant with the same effect coil.
Comments on HVAC-Talk message boards and heating contractor sites are mixed regarding this Bryant Furnace:
One person at the HVAC-Talk forums claims to have had no problems with the Bryant unit or replacement of any parts in 20 years. But the compressor keeps going out for apparently no reason. Perhaps this problem is associated with poor or complicated wiring that sometimes interferes with the functioning of certain parts.
Two other people at the HVAC-Talk forums concur. In their particular cases, however, the wiring interferes with the pilot light’s performance, which, in turn, prevents the flame from igniting or causes the flame to extinguish right after starting.
One professional tech at the HVAC-Talk forums clarifies that Bryant’s five-wire valves tend to be aggravating because they interfere with pilot performance.

Question:
What does error code 43 mean?
Answer:
The trouble shooting guide for your furnace is here: http://dms.hvacpartners.com/docs/1009/public/0a/sm05-07.pdf, and Bryant has provided instructions for error code 43 on page 30.
