The American Standard Heritage 15 is a discontinued single-stage heat pump with an efficiency rating of up to 17.0 SEER and 9.0 HSPF. The unit featured an all-aluminum Spine Fin coil and a Duration compressor with a compressor sound insulator to reduce noise. It was equipped with a liquid line filter/drier, a high pressure switch and demand defrost with diagnostics. A heavy-duty steel louvered cabinet with powder paint finish provided protection from the elements, and the Durabase basepan was designed to resist corrosion.
This heat pump has broken continually every year since it was installed. What a piece of s… American Standard warranty also sucks, they pay for the parts. The lines have failed 3 times in 7 years of ownership. They do nothing. I would never buy another piece of shit American Standard unit as long as I live. It is getting replaced today.

My heat pump is 5 years and 1 month old. The warranty ended, of course, at 5 years and the defroster broke a few days ago. So, I'm out $315 dollars for a $10 part. The worst part of this is the fact that I had to run on emergency heat for 3 days now because American Standard does not supply its distributors with the proper equipment. Who would not stock their distributors with circuit board parts in the middle of winter? Worse off, I have to pay a $48 dollar freight cost to cover the transportation of the material from American Standard to my distributor. This heat pump is a beast as it makes my neighbors (I live in a twin) look like a dwarf. Jokes on the beast, though, as his little thing runs smooth and mine is a piece of junk.

We purchased the Heritage 15 based on the VAR SPD fan and quietness of the unit in 2010. Every season, the tech has had to come make the unit work. They keep bypassing the board. We have spent a lot of money on this unit and of course, we are now having to pay for the labor. Now, instead of the VAR SPD fan, they installed a conventional blower. This is not what we paid for. So the owner is now telling me that he will discuss what's wrong and tell me the cost to fix it. Really? Very dissatisfied with the unit and the company.

"OUTSTANDING HEAT PUMP"

Very Satisfied
I have lived in this old house for 36 years and this American Standard Heat Pump is my 4th system. Prior unit was 11 year old Rheem cooling with electric strip heat and heat recovery ecu for hot water. This unit cools and heats better than all previous systems. Fan pushes air to far bedroom to provide greatly improved cooling & heat. Cabinet quality & design very good. 12 month efficiency improvement is 24% fewer kwh using a ge hybrid (heat pump) water heater instead of the old conventional heat coil/ECU water heater. Completely reliable during first year of use. ac/dc Discount Cool outstanding contractor who provided professional installation and repair of existing duct work at reasonable price. My first heat pump experience is very positive and I got Trane quality at American Standard price.

"THE WORST CHOICE EVER!!!!!!!!"

I had a York heat pump, which worked perfectly for the past 20 years. Electric bills were always low both in the summer and winter. However, I decided to upgrade to an American Standard, as the York unit was only a 12-seer unit. Just had the Heritage 15 Seer Unit installed a month and half ago, horrible!!! My electrical bill has gone up over $75.00, the air conditioning runs for 7 minutes, shuts off for 5 minutes, and then kicks back on for 7 minutes, all day long! There is nothing efficient with this unit. I went from an average of 1,200 Kilowatt-hours to over 2000 since this unit has been installed, and we've done nothing different in regards to the temp adjustments that we used with the York. The installer hasn't a clue, as does American Standard. This unit qualified for the $1,500 tax rebate, but that won't even begin to cover the increased cost of the operation of this unit by the time we file for our taxes in the spring of 2010! American Standard, how can you possibly lable this unit as efficient when it has almost doubled our kilowatt hours per month and kicked up our bill over $75.00!!!??? the worst choice we've ever made!
