American Standard Silver 14 Air Conditioner Overview
The American Standard Silver 14 (also known as the 4A7A4) is a single-stage air conditioner with an efficiency of up to 16.00 SEER. It features a single-stage Duration compressor and an all-aluminum Spine Fin coil which is corrosion-resistant and provides optimal heat transfer. The unit is protected from weather hazards by heavy-duty steel louvered panels with an appliance-grade finish, SermaGuard zinc-coated, rust-resistant screws, and a Durabase basepan designed to resist cracks, rust and corrosion.
Live in Houston Texas area, our A/C's run probably 8+ months a year with outside temps regularly in the 95 to 98 degree range before figuring in humidity. Mine are both 14+ years old, and still working great. Had an issue with the coil on my 3.5 ton unit back in 2010, fixed under warranty. Will use American Standard for my next units when needed.

According to this website's reviews, all a/c manufacturers suck big league. So turn them all off and sit and sweat.

Had the unit 4 months. They replaced the compressor and coil, it's still not working. I've been waiting for 4 weeks for the air conditioner to work, they keep putting me off. I called American Standard customer relations, no help at all. I am having a new unit put in at my expense. I will have to sue to get my money back.

American Standard 3 ton heat/AC unit replaced an aging system that could no longer hold Freon nor heat efficiently. One year later could not be happier. The new American Standard unit has almost paid for itself in energy savings and could not be more comfortable. Now the unit in Mom's house is out and the order for a new American Standard has already been ordered, call tomorrow to schedule the install.

System is 10 and 1 month old. Bought the extended warranty. Unit had several service call since installed. Now, I have to replace TXV valve at a cost of over $1100. Warranty expired one month ago. American Standard says repairs are my problem. Would not recommend this product. Also would not recommend Energy Star Htg. in Elk Grove, California.
