The Amana ASZ14 heat pump achieves a SEER performance of fourteen. The unit features a compressor sound cover to reduce noise and a two-speed condenser fan motor. The ASZ14 uses R-410A refrigerant. Some of the features included are:
Condenser started leaking after only 7 years. After reading other reviews realized repairing it was just throwing away money. Replaced it with a Trane. Good bye Amana forever.

My heat pump was installed in August 2014 by ********. Failed to operate a year later in September 2015. ******** sent technician "Richard" on October 1, checked, started it, then failed a few hours later. They sent another tech. Measured airflow, twiddled and started the heat pump again. Failed again. ******** claims lack of airflow (after one year of operation) is insufficient, which causes the unit to shut down. That was it from ******** … my problem. Called ***** AC. ****** ******* did some real trouble shooting, found gas level below minimum, concluded leakage. Found small leakage in furnace section, charged up the gas and fired up the heat pump. Failed again after a few days, called in Amana (?) representative, concluded major leak inside unit. ***** AC to repair, pending dry weather. To date, December 22nd, 2015, still no functioning unit. This not acceptable, the unit should have been replaced and the defective unit refurbished under shop conditions. I would appreciate your response.

Purchased complete unit, air handler, heat pump in 2008. After 7 years, the units have been repaired every year. Let me emphasize, all problems were manufacturer's quality issues: 4 way valve x2, evaporator, brazed suction side piping leaks, cracked drain pan, refrigerant leaks at factory brazed joints. None were installer issues. Please research before you purchase any unit. At this stage, all brands seem to have problems. One positive is the compressor warranty. Since 2008 we've spent over $1500 in repairs.

"Save your money buy Trane"

Bought the Amana in December, 2012. It is now March of 2015 and I am spending another $2500 on the outside compressor. What crap. I don't want to spend money I don't have or I would change the whole thing. This is the unit they put in when my Trane went but the Trane was in there for 10 years. This Amana rusted away in 2 1/2 years. Have to save my money, I hope I have enough saved to buy a Trane and get rid of this crap. Buy Trane, buy Trane, buy Trane, buy Trane.
