Other AMV9 Reviews
Several Amana AMV9 furnace owners posting on wetheadmedia.com have had issues with the product, saying that the unit tends to ramp up and produce loud noises at high speeds. Two users mention that they have experienced ignition problems starting from the time they bought the unit. According to one of these users, Amana has not accepted responsibility for this problem and contractors have been unable to find a cause for the problem.
Reviewers posting on houserepairtalk.com discuss an issue with an igniter working improperly. One homeowner says that in low temperatures, the blower comes on but the air is note heated, until he manually resets the igniter. Experts on the site suggest that the flame sensor may have a build up of dirt that’s preventing the unit from working properly. It is suggested that the “flame rod” should be cleaned regularly (every few years) to keep the unit performing optimally.
Question and Answer
How many watts does an Amana AMV9 use?

Well, one of the things Amana uses to advertise this furnace is the low wattage used by the variable speed fan motor. In their brochure they say: “Its variable-speed blower makes this furnace even more efficient. The low constant fan setting can use as little energy as that needed to run a 75-watt light bulb.”
However, to find to total watts used we would need the model number as the size of the furnace will effect the final number. Also, after searching various technical and installation manuals it was not possible to find a chart listing watts used by the various models.
