In the last available literature for the discontinued RCE Prestige Ultra air conditioner, dating back to 1999, Amana advertises the units as an economical option suitable for new construction or as a replacement unit. This series offers 14 to 16 SEER and was at its launch date able to meet Energy Star efficiency requirements when paired with the matching evaporator coil.
Although this series is equipped with six different models ranging in efficiency and cooling capacities from 24,000 to 60,000 BTU/H, all units provide similar features. Standard components include a high-efficiency scroll compressor, copper and aluminum evaporator coils, heavy vinyl coat grilles for increased unit protection, and a quiet condenser fan with vertical air discharge.
According to the manufacturer, the RCE Prestige Ultra also boasts simple maintenance and installation with angled solid brass valves and gauge ports, an easily accessible service panel, and pre-wired control panel with color coded and numbered wires for fast field wiring.
