The Amana ASX13 is a high-efficiency single-stage air conditioner with an efficiency rating of up to 14 SEER. The unit’s scroll compressor is protected from moisture and debris by a factory-installed filter drier, and a high-density foam compressor sound blanket helps keep sound levels as low as 73 decibels. Copeland CoreSense Diagnostics constantly monitor the system for trouble and will shut the system down if a problem with the compressor is detected. The unit’s heavy-gauge galvanized steel cabinet has a sound-control top and a powder paint finish with 500-hour salt spray approval.
As an installer of Amana for years, I stick with them since they are one of the best. Yes, every system manufacturer will have some issues with products and that's what part warranties are for. All these poor reviews on this site is due to poor installation or issues with the contractors, which do not reflect the equipment. Many of my customers see poor reviews on Amana, but don't realize it's all bs. If the product is installed to manufacturer specs and the installer knows all the ins and outs, the system will run great. Because of that, the 10-year parts warranty, I match with a 10-year labor warranty at my cost because of how well these units hold up.

I live in a townhouse community, so I requested a quiet ac. It is not quiet. It belches when it kicks on and makes an awful grinding noise when it stops. I am very disappointed with it!

Bought a new a man a home unit it cost 4500.00 installed the first year okay. After that about 2 years had to replace the fan motor for the evap. Was working for a short time good. Now the outside fan motor went bad trying not to sweat keeping the motor cool to keep it running. The installer will be out to replace that motor with a service charge and labor. Had a carrier unit for 13 years worked great the compressor rusted on the bottom and started leaking. The salesman assured me Amana was a great unit. He lied.

I have had my unit for less then two years and already needed to replace the coil. Since they only cover the part it ended up costing me over $700.00 to replace it. Amana didn't cover any labor or refrigerant lost due to their faulty part. Stay away from Amana!

Have 3 Amana central units in my home built in 2006. I have had nothing but trouble with all three! I had 4 coils replaced and countless fan motors and 2 pcs. boards. Some under warranty, some not. I would not recommend anything from Amana, not even a microwave oven or toaster! Worst AC I have ever owned! Shame on you Amana! Replacing all three units with Trane.
A homeowner on hvac-talk.com asked if the ASX13 is a good unit, because he’d read several bad reviews. There weren’t many posts saying if it was good or bad, although one member stated that most equipment reviews are bad anyway. A post from a homeowner on the same site asked for opinions in choosing between the ASX13 and the Amana ASX16. Most replies favored the ASX16, citing the longer warranty as the main reason. A few did choose the ASX13 based on the lower price and efficiency needs.
