Adams Manufacturing makes commercial and residential gas and oil furnaces which can be adapted for use as central air conditioning units. The company is privately owned and is located in Cleveland, Ohio.
Sidney Schonberger founded the Adams Manufacturing Co. in 1945 and first manufactured gas conversion burners. Adams Manufacturing is still a family-owned business: Marty’s son Marty Jr. became vice president in 1992 and his daughter Sydney began working in the accounting department in 1995.
In 1964, the company began a series of new product development and acquisitions that led to significant expansion. This began with the production of Cleanaire Electronic Air Cleaners, which led to the purchase of Humidaire in 1984. The company now produces a complete line of humidifiers under the Humidaire brand name. In 1986, Adams purchased the INTERburner assets from the Sloan Valve Co., then purchased Magic Chef’s gas-fired heater business in 1988. In 1992, Adams expanded its production facilities to 75,000 square feet to accommodate the newly purchased Dornback Furnace and Foundry Co. Adams Manufacturing added the low-profile gas unit heaters from Uni-pak in 1999, the Sunheat low-intensity infrared heater in 2000 and the high-intensity infrared heater in 2001.
In 2003, Adams Manufacturing received a grant from the National Oil Research Alliance to develop a high-efficiency oil-fired furnace. They completed the project and now manufacture a condensing oil-fired unit heater with efficiencies as high as 99 percent.
Adams Manufacturing makes four series of high-efficiency oil and gas furnaces: highboy, horizontal, lowboy and counterflow. Units range from 90,000 to 1 million BTU/H. All of these are adaptable for summer air-conditioning units as well.
The company also offers what it calls “the world’s most efficient furnace.” This 95-percent efficient condensing oil-fired furnace has an output of 50,000 through 250,000 BTU and is available in cooling capacities from 2.5 to 10 tons.
Adams Manufacturing offers a 20-year warranty on the heat exchanger and condensing coil and a 5-year warranty on additional parts for the condensing oil-fired furnaces.
