York International Corp., headquartered in York, Pa., sells residential and light commercial furnaces, heat pumps and central air conditioners. The company markets furnaces under the brand names ColemanLuxaire, and York. Johnson Controls Inc., York's parent company, recorded approximately $37 billion in sales in 2015. The Building Efficiency segment, of which York is a part, achieved worldwide net sales of approximately 10.5 billion for that same year.

Corporate History

York was founded in 1874 in York, Pa. The company got its start making ice machines, and soon transitioned to selling early air-conditioning systems. Among its credits, the company notes that its products cooled the world's first air-conditioned building.

Johnson Controls purchased the previously publicly-traded York in 2005. Today the company is a part of Johnson Controls' Building Efficiency segment.

Product Lines

Today, York makes residential gas furnaces, split-system air-conditioners and heat pumps under the AffinityLX and Latitude product lines. The company promotes its Affinity furnace as being energy-efficient, and a Consumer's Best Buy as recognized by Consumer's Digest.

In addition to complete heating and cooling units, Johnson Controls also manufactures HVAC replacement parts.
