Suburban supplies furnaces and water heaters for use in RVs and air conditioners for small commercial applications. The Tennessee-based company is a division of Airxcel Inc. in Wichita, Kan. Airxcel is owned by One Rock Capital Partners, a private company based in New York, NY.
Suburban Manufacturing has supplied RV heating systems since the 1960s. In 1985 it began manufacturing a gas-fired package terminal air conditioner (PTAC) known as Dynaline. Today Suburban produces its furnaces in a 300,000-square-foot facility in Dayton, Tenn.
Parent company Airxcel was at one time a division of the Coleman Co. Inc. In 1991 it was spun off as Recreation Vehicle Products Inc. and then became Airxcel in 1997 following its acquisitions of Suburban and Marvair. Airxcel was purchased by One Rock Capital Partners in 2014.
Suburban manufactures RV furnaces in a range of capacities from 16,000 to 40,000 BTU/H. It offers five series:
- SH Series for quiet performance.
- NT and P Series for energy-efficient and versatile performance.
- SF Series low-profile ducted units for midsize and large RVs.
- SHD Series, with dual input to provide the optimum temperature at all times.
Suburban also makes gas and gas-electric RV water heaters ranging from 4 to 16 gallon capacities.
In addition, the company offers the self-contained DynaPack heating and cooling system for multifamily and small commercial applications. The electric, vertical packaged air conditioner is available in capacities ranging from 1 ½ to 2 ½ tons for cooling and 36 to 60 MBTU gas heat. The units can be ducted across multiple rooms. Finally, the commercial Dynaline 3 PTAC offers gas heat and electric air conditioning. Units can be operated individually for zone-specific heating and cooling. The product is available in four cooling capacities ranging from 7,600 to 20,000 BTU/H.
