Samsung Electronics America Inc. produces floor-standing, wall- and window-mounted air conditioners and split system heat pumps. It is owned by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a publicly-owned company headquartered in South Korea. In 2015, Samsung Electronics Co. earned gross revenues of approximately $170 billion USD and net income of approximately $16 billion.
Samsung was founded in 1938 in Korea by Byung-Chull Lee. In 1980, Samsung Electronics began producing air conditioners. Four years later the company established its first manufacturing plant in the United States. In August 2014, Samsung Electronics purchased U.S. air conditioning firm Quietside LLC to help strengthen its "smart home" business.
Samsung offers floor-standing, wall-mounted and window air conditioners with electronic touch pads or mechanical dials, some of which are Energy Star-rated. Top wall-mount units, such as the AR5000, feature a digital inverter for increased efficiency and a triangular design for improved circulation. These units can also be monitored and controlled remotely from a smartphone app.
The company also promotes a number of split heat pumps, either wall- or ceiling-mounted, including some options intended to be a decorative addition to any room. These systems can provide 2-, 3- or 4-zone heating.

The warranty varies by product. Samsung offers a 1-year labor and parts warranty and a 5-year warranty for compressors on certain products, while offering a 7-year compressor, 5-year parts and 90-day labor warranty on others. Still others, such as the Pearl mini-split, feature a 10-year compressor and parts warranty and a 1-year labor warranty. Warranty benefits require a proof of purchase for the unit.
