Goettl Air Conditioners, Furnaces and Heat Pumps
By Gary Sprague
Goettl is an air conditioning and heating service company which once produced a line of air conditioners, furnaces and heat pumps sold primarily in the Southwest. Goettl is now owned by Phoenix Peach LLC, a private holding company based in Nevada.
Adam and Gust Goettl founded Goettl Air Conditioning in 1939. The Goettl brand of air conditioning equipment was designed specially to run in the Southwest climate.
In 2008 the family-owned business was sold to American Residential Services LLC (ARS). In 2011 the state of Arizona sued to shut down ARS and its subsidiaries, Goettl among them, for using deceptive marketing practices. In 2012, a consent agreement was reached in which ARS agreed to change the way it does business.
In 2012 Phoenix Peach purchased Goettl Air Conditioning from ARS. Today Phoenix Peach owns numerous Goettl trademarks used in connection with air conditioning installation, replacement, and repair services, as well as in connection with the sale of air conditioners and related equipment by leading manufacturers in the industry.
There is little information available today about specific Goettl brand air conditioners, furnaces and heat pumps, although anecdotal evidence suggests that the units produced prior to 2008 were known for their longevity and durability. After that time, most consumer reviews online are complaints about service and cautions that units with the Goettl name on them may actually be units produced by other companies.
