Armstrong Air makes residential and light commercial heating and cooling products, including central air conditioners, furnaces and heat pumps. Armstrong Air is owned by Lennox International, a Texas-based company with revenue of approximately $3.1 billion on 2013.
Armstrong was founded as Armstrong Furnace in 1928 by the Lennox Furnace Co. In 1957 Lennox sold Armstrong, but then reacquired what was then known as Armstrong Air Conditioning Inc. in 1988. The company today manufactures its products in Orangeburg, S.C., while its headquarters in Lexington County, S.C., include a 40,000-square-foot research and development facility.
Armstrong sells variable speed and multi-stage gas furnaces reaching up to 97% AFUE (the A97MV). Single- and multi-stage oil furnaces also are available in 83% and 85% AFUE models. The company also offers several Energy Star-rated central air conditioners and heat pumps, as well as more cost-effective standard options.
