AirPro Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps
By Gary Sprague
AirPro manufactured a discontinued line of air conditioners in the 1990s, later becoming a private label brand sold through Coleman Heating and Air Conditioning. Coleman headquarters are in Norman, Okla. It is owned by York International, which is in turn owned by Wisconsin-based Johnson Controls Co. Johnson trades on the NY stock exchange as JCI and had net sales of approximately $42.8 billion in 2014.
AirPro air conditioning units and components were sold under Coleman. AirPro was one of several brand names listed as original equipment manufacturers, and no distinction was made among the products and/or parts it makes.
After many company purchases and name changes, Coleman was used to market HVAC products as part of Evcon Industries. In 1996, Evcon was acquired by York International Products, a Johnson Control company.
Coleman markets several types of split-system air conditioners. Air conditioners affiliated with the AirPro brand included the BRCS, DRCS, FRCS and PAC.
The AirPro BRCS 10 SEER series units were installed outdoors and had upflow, downflow and horizontal applications. They were meant to be matched with a UPG evaporator.

Warranties vary among the Coleman air conditioners available. Most of the models offer a 10-year warranty on the compressor and other parts provided they are installed after May 1, 2009, and registered within 90 days of installation. If such conditions are not met, the warranty is reduced to 5-year coverage. Coleman dealers can provide more detailed warranty information pertinent to the model purchased.
BRCS single-phase units had a 5-year limited warranty on parts and on the compressor. Three-phase units had a 1-year limited parts warranty and a 5-year limited warranty on the compressor.
