There's a good chance that you can just measure the cabinet width, and then substitute a "x4" for the last "x1" in the required filter.

For example, if your cabinet is 21" wide, you would purchase a 16x25x4 instead of 16x25x1.

However, it's also possible that your furnace has a separate air cleaner. (Many air cleaners use the thicker 4" filters.) If that's the case, your best bet is to remove the current 4" filter, and check it for measurements. If the measurement isn't printed, just measure it with a tape measure, and round up to the nearest inch for each dimension.
