Repair of the two drain lines comming out of unit.

Have two drain lines side by side.The one with the threaded end that goes into the unit is broken inside the unit.Can you tell me if I can just get another threaded replacement pipe and pull the old threaded pipe out the put a new one in or is there a special type of fitting pipe that has to go inside the unit.Were the unit is I can just get to it but cann't see down inside to see what I need. Thanks,
