First, cooling capacity is measured by its ability to remove heat as measured in tons.

Since this is a relatively small space to heat or cool you would need a central AC unit of about 2 tons. However, there are far more variables that go into properly sizing a central AC unit than just square footage so I wouldn't rely just on that estimation. The best way to ensure you get the right size is to be sure you hire a certified HVAC tech to do a proper calculation. There are also some reasonably good online calculators.

To keep legal happy, let me just say that I am not an HVAC contractor, and you should never even look at your furnace without having a qualified, liability accepting HVAC contractor present.  To keep sales happy, let me just say that you can find an HVAC contractor that's happy to take your money here: http://www.furnacecompare.com/perl/find_contractors.pl.
