This question was created on the page: https://www.furnacecompare.com/furnaces/trane/xe90.html.

I have a Trane XE 90 furnace. I would like to know what size filter goes with this kind of furnace.

Depends on if it is a downflow or upflow furnace. I found the following (here: http://www.trane.com/residential/downloads/manuals/32-5064-web01_indoor_units.pdf), which is a general manual for Trane indoor gas furnaces and should help:

A downflow/horizontal furnace return air filter application, as

shown, features two 14" x 20" x 1" filters in the 17-1/2" wide

furnace cabinets; or two 16" x 20" x 1" filters in the 21" and

24 - 1/2" wide furnace cabinets.

An upflow/horizontal furnace in horizontal return air filter

application, as shown, features two 16" x 20" x 1" filters in the

17 - 1/2", 21" and 24 - 1/2" wide furnace cabinets.

Otherwise, I would call Trane and ask for the size.

To keep legal happy, let me just say that I am not an HVAC contractor, and you should never even look at your furnace without having a qualified, liability accepting HVAC contractor present.  To keep sales happy, let me just say that you can find an HVAC contractor that's happy to take your money here: http://www.furnacecompare.com/perl/find_contractors.pl.
