Is the heating element on electric water heaters not standard? My plumber has a replacement water heater that is generic and it does not seem to fit on my state censible electric water heater

My mistake. I'm talking about the heating element. The problem seems to be with the thread pattern in some way or perhaps the diameter of the element. It appears that the generic replacement elements are slightly too big for the hole.
