What is the best AC unit of all the brands?Post created: 2013-04-05 Type of Equipment: Air Conditioner Views: 98
I have been looking at your site to attempt to confirm several estimates I have concerning the replacement of my central a/c heating system. I checked what I consider all the name brands, but the closest I came to #1 was #19 which was Amana. I am asking the question of who, if any brands, is really overall the best?? All I have looked at shows many bad reviews than good reviews.

First, it is true that you are most likely to hear from people who are dissatisfied with a product than those who are satisfied (and warm, in this case). One way to read the ratings is to look and see if there is consistency in the complaints with a model. All brands have their higher end products and then products for more price conscious shoppers so you want to make sure you are comparing apples to apples.
As to which is the best AC unit of all brands? Not to sound disrespectful, but the one that is properly sized to the cooling load of your home and installed by a certified and talented HVAC tech. Beyond that I would look at the models in terms of efficiency, the types of features you are looking for, etc.
For the most part, the brands will be consistent among their high end models so proper size, installation, efficiency, and features that match your needs are the best measures of an AC unit.
To keep legal happy, let me just say that I am not an HVAC contractor, and you should never even look at your furnace without having a qualified, liability accepting HVAC contractor present. To keep sales happy, let me just say that you can find an HVAC contractor that's happy to take your money here: http://www.furnacecompare.com/perl/find_contractors.pl.
