There's smoke coming out of vents and a red light is flashing on the bottom right round window

There's smoke/fumes coming out of vents, no heat anymore. There's a red light flashing on the lower right round window of two round view-windows. The horizontal wide square box on top is hot, esp on bottom of it (this all is after I take the front panel off).

First, is there a fire or is smoke still coming from the vents? If so you may need emergency help.

The flashing red light is indicating an error code. This is a two digit number. The first digit is indicated by a number of short flashes followed by a number of long flashes. The code indicates the general area of the problem, but is not a specific diagnosis. Given the situation as you describe it you should call a certified HVAC technician to come diagnose the problem, make sure the furnace is safe, and fix the problem.

Good Luck!

To keep legal happy, let me just say that I am not an HVAC contractor, and you should never even look at your furnace without having a qualified, liability accepting HVAC contractor present.  To keep sales happy, let me just say that you can find an HVAC contractor that's happy to take your money here: http://www.furnacecompare.com/perl/find_contractors.pl.
