Updating basement. Is it worth replacing the old steel ductwork? How small of a duct can I use for the Trane XV95?

Return air too small, trash can effect even at low air setting. Basement ductwork circa 1966. Trying to get more headroom in planned update. Do not refer us to First Call, they botched install so bad it had to be moved and reinstalled so we could clean the filter.

The size of the ductwork depends on several factors, such as the furnace model and the size of your house. This is something that should be determined by a licensed, qualified heating professional, because if the the ductwork is not sized properly your furnace will not run as efficiently as it should. Improperly sized ductwork can also cause damage to the furnace.
